         Position: Finance Officer


The Collaborative Centre for Gender and Development is looking for suitable candidates to fill the position of a Finance Officer.

 

JOB TITLE: FINANCE OFFICER

JOB DESCRIPTION OF THE FINANCE OFFICER

 

The successful candidate shall perform the following among other duties and responsibilities:

·         Oversee implementation of Financial policies and procedures and advice on review of the same.

·         Oversee timely input of data required for preparation of monthly, quarterly, bi annual/annual and related financial statements.

·          Oversee coding and posting of voucher entries into general ledger.

·          Prepare the monthly balance sheet and cashflow analysis by the designated data.

·          Oversee preparation of monthly payroll and ensure tax compliance.

·          Oversee reconciliation of bank accounts periodically and creditor/debtors accounts and advise on how to solve any differences that may arise.

·          Oversee banking including acting as bank signatory.

·          Monitor and Reinforce internal controls.

·          Liaise with resource development partners on grant contracts.

·          Liaise with Administration support Officer and team to ensure efficient utilization of financial resources.

·         Coordinate and oversee preparation of Finance Reports.

·         Support program team with Financial reports to donor partners and fundraising.

·         Obtain the number of staff on payroll and total amount to be paid out as salaries from the HRO by 15th of every month. Determine or verify the funding source, then direct the Accountant to proceed with debiting the relevant accounts for processing staff salaries.

·          Perform any other duties assigned from time to time.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field.
  • Professional Certification such as: CPA (Certified Public Accountant)
  • 3-4 years of experience in financial management or accounting, preferably in an NGO.
  • Proven experience in budgeting, financial reporting, grant management, particularly with donor-funded projects.
  • Experience with donor compliance and knowledge of financial reporting requirements for donors.
  • Experience with audits (internal and external), preparation of audit schedules and liaising with auditors.
  • Strong knowledge of financial systems and accounting software, such as QuickBooks, SAP or other similar financial management systems.
  • Knowledge of financial policies and procedures and experience implementing internal controls in compliance with donor and organizational regulations.
  • Analytical skills to interpret complex financial data and generate reports.
  • Budgeting and forecasting skills to manage financial planning for projects.
  • Communication skills both written and verbal, to communicate financial information clearly.
  • Attention to detail for ensuring accuracy in financial documentation.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills to manage financial challenges.
  • Teamwork and leadership abilities,
  • Experience working in multi-country programs or organizations with field offices.
  • Previous experience in managing cash flows and ensuring proper fund allocation for projects.
  • High integrity and ethical standards.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks within tight deadlines.
